Charlotte, NC – September 9, 2009 -- Pilot Travel Centers, LLC has signed a contract to purchase DEF Dispensing Systems from manufacturer SPATCO™ DEF Corporation.  Equipment has already been installed in Charlotte and Portland, with additional locations scheduled for installation over the next several months.

Pilot Travel Centers, the largest interstate travel center operation in the nation, is known for being a pioneer and leader in the trucking industry. They will be the first truck stop in the United States to provide DEF in a retail dispenser.  We are excited about the opportunity to build upon the long-standing relationship we have with Pilot," said Jody Sailors, vice president of construction services. "I believe the decision to install our equipment solidifies SPATCO™ DEF’s position as the premiere DEF dispensing systems provider to the trucking industry."

The Environmental Protection Agency has mandated that all Class 1 – Class 8 diesel vehicles manufactured after January 1, 2010 must be equipped with technology to substantially reduce NOx emissions.  By injecting DEF, a mixture of 32.5% urea and 67.5% water, into the exhaust of vehicles using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, harmful NOx emissions are reduced to almost zero. In addition to reduced emissions, this technology has also been proven to increase fuel economy by between 4-6 percent.
